Created from a strong desire to make an opportunity for people to draw closer to one another in the company of
nature, and to renew their fading connection with the environment. Reflections on our human condition led to a
realization: we need a space that acts as a pretext for a deep encounter with the natural world. The result of these
reflections is a shelter that allows one to inhabit the environment and observe its changes while remaining in a
place of safety. It serves as a quiet sanctuary, offering a protective embrace while simultaneously acting as an
open window to the surrounding wilderness.
This project was never meant to be static, as it is also a traveler. It was designed to be disassembled, packed, and
transported anywhere. By its very nature, the act of assembling the object together fosters a bond through a sense
of shared purpose. It is built not just from wood and steel, but from the collective effort of a team bringing it to
life.
Consequently, Reconnector has the potential to move between locations, facilitating the renewal of ties across
different cultures in various parts of the world. It is an architectural nomad with a mission, meant to be erected
by communities, for communities. The aforementioned renewal leading to connection occurs here on multiple levels –
it is the rebuilding of bonds between people, between humanity and nature, and within oneself.
Regarding the Reconnector itself, its history lies spliced between all the seven philosophical values. From the
willingness to create something that would fulfill the role of their absolute embodiment. Every step of its creation
had to be in order with this ruleset, while at the same time, it had to result in an object that would grant his
need for a prolonged connection with nature. It is not merely a structure; it is a material form manifesting a
deeply rooted thought process, standing as a physical and sensual understanding of the Riconessione ethos.
To bring this vision into reality, the shelter was crafted by hand, shaped through the dedication of many hands
working in unison. This collective labor was a true testament to the philosophy itself, proving that great things
require the selfless support and time of a dedicated community.
Once it stands in the wild, the object’s purpose is simply to exist within nature and quietly fulfill its mission.
The users do not need to know the extensive backstory or the specific values that birthed it. Since its creation was
conducted completely in order with the values, the object conveys them literally, preaching them without uttering a
single word. The users are meant to, consciously or not, walk out of the Reconnector with some of the knowledge
awakened in them, having simply felt an undeniable bond with the environment and with each other.
Ultimately, it is an object dedicated to connecting people. Its specific geometry, based on a centric plan,
naturally creates a sense of intimacy and draws individuals toward one another. Even under the cover of night, the
Reconnector acts as the final, silent “member” of the gathering – a binding glue that offers an endlessly
approaching, warm atmosphere. It is our greatest hope that this traveler will continue its journey, helping to bring
countless other communities closer together, wherever its wooden walls may rest.
